Inside CD PROJEKT RED HQ: A Space To Create Revolutionary RPGs

At CD PROJEKT RED, our goal is to create revolutionary role-playing games with memorable stories that inspire gamers. But for every heart-wrenching plot point, every piece of cutting-edge tech, and every round of Gwent, there’s a team of passionate creators working hard behind the scenes.
That’s why we strive to create a space that not only encourages productivity and efficiency, but also creativity, collaboration, well-being, and comfort. Our Headquarters is constantly evolving to meet the needs of our teams, because we believe that allowing our REDs to thrive physically, mentally, and professionally is what enhances our ability to make world-class video games that have a lasting impact on players.

Working life at CD PROJEKT RED extends well beyond the desk. We have tailored spaces to meet the needs of our creative teams, whether it be our state-of-the-art UX lab, motion capture studio, audio rooms, and even Zen Rooms to take a moment to relax. The many gamers among us can also take advantage of the Game Zone, which has consoles, board games, and plenty of space to play card and tabletop games too.
REDs can also use our fitness facilities — including a fully equipped indoor gym with a climbing wall — that promote not just physical health but their overall well-being through the likes of sports classes too. These are joined by a recreational rooftop space with a basketball court, outdoor gym, and plenty of seating for taking in the Polish sunshine. A chill zone with panoramic views of Warsaw can also be found on the roof of our latest building — a five-story, state-of-the-art office space which hosts the largest green wall in Poland with over 40,000 plants. And employees can enjoy the nature while knowing they’re respecting it too.

An independent carbon audit placed our new building among Warsaw’s most eco-friendly office buildings. The steel elements used in construction come from an electric furnace, while the reinforced concrete mix was produced with low-emission materials. Hot water systems are powered using excess heat from the building’s servers to minimize energy waste, photovoltaic solar panels generate 30kW of clean energy (enough to power the building’s underground garage lighting), and during colder months, natural outdoor air cools the building’s systems, significantly reducing electricity consumption. Rainwater is also collected and purified on location, and used for toilet flushing and irrigation, including of the green walls.
“This was the first time we had the chance to design a building completely from scratch, and it gave us the unique opportunity to consider sustainability from the very beginning,” said Dominika Smolińska-Zwiep, our Administration & Workplace Associate Director. “It wasn’t our only goal, but it was always present in the background, influencing the materials we chose, the systems we implemented, and the way the entire space functions today.”

The new building is otherwise built with connectivity in mind, with large, open spaces offering regular opportunities to connect and collaborate. This includes with our original building too, of course, as a planned skywalk will link the two structures, improving mobility and day-to-day flow across campus. Our REDs even have a private cinema to host game reviews, creative presentations, and more.
“It’s so cool to finally see the building standing after so many months of hard work behind the scenes,” added Aleksandra Kossowska, our Project Manager. “Bringing in things like the wooden facade, sliding windows, and the external green wall was definitely a big step away from the usual approach for this kind of building. It made the project a really exciting challenge.”

REDs are already feeling the effects too. “The move to the new building has noticeably improved how we work and collaborate,” said our Producer Daniel Wicher. “Having key teams closer together has made our cooperation more natural and efficient, which is crucial for building the most immersive Witcher game to date! What really makes a difference, though, is that the whole building lives and breathes The Witcher 4. Every floor is tailored to our needs, and having everyone working on the game in one place creates a real sense of shared purpose.”
It’s not just REDs who can enjoy the new space either: the ground floor of the new building — alongside our brand new Side Quest Cafe — is open to the public. The cafe offers a rotating menu of freshly prepared craft sandwiches, bowls, smoothies, desserts, and a full selection of specialty coffee, matcha, and tea. Whether you’re at our campus to see how we work, or are just nearby and after a midday pick-me-up, Side Quest Cafe has something for everyone. Feel free to stop in.
