Job Description
As a Senior Material Artist, you will work independently to create and manage a material library for multiple departments, ensuring consistency, quality, and contextual needs. You will also play a role as needed in designing well-crafted environments for Cyberpunk 2 - the follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 and the next major video game in the Cyberpunk franchise.
Daily responsibilities
- Participate in the creation of ideas and plans for locations/levels for Cyberpunk 2.
- Collaborate with Art Directors and Art Leads to maintain artistic consistency and vision for the game while building high quality materials and world.
- Provide guidance on materials and collaborate directly with Environment, Asset, Lighting and Character artists involved in using the library of prepared materials.
- Create photorealistic materials for different uses (tiling, decals, atlases/arrays etc.) in a variety of tools. Utilizing an excellent understanding of physically based rendering, art direction, player guidance and metrics.
- Create high quality 3D models fitting the Cyberpunk 2 aesthetic.
- Collaborating effectively with Level Designers, Concept Artists, Environment Artists and every team involved in creating locations.
- Maintaining and improving production and optimization pipelines.
- Putting finishing touches on locations and cutscenes with existing meshes, decals, and custom primitive data.
- Mentor and provide feedback for team members.
- Be a knowledge base for other artists.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience in the video games industry and at least one AAA title shipped in portfolio.
- Excellent knowledge of physically based rendering (PBR).
- Strong skills in procedural material creation software (Adobe Substance 3D Designer).
- Good skills in one of the leading modeling packages (3DS Max, Maya, Blender etc.) and Photoshop.
- Great sense of scale, proportions and composition.
- Solid understanding of color theory and foundational lighting techniques.
- Excellent eye for detail.
- Excellent awareness of the role materials play in constructing the final frame and how materials fit in a project’s context.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Passion for games
Nice to have's

- Experience creating shaders and understanding of modern graphics pipelines.
- Experience with photogrammetry in games.
- An understanding of level design principles.
- Experience with procedural content creation packages (Unreal PCG, Houdini, World Machine).
- Sculpting skills.
