Bringing the Joy at Nintendo Switch 2 Experience Events

Bringing the Joy at Nintendo Switch 2 Experience Events
For the last two months we’ve been flying around the world to take part in Nintendo Switch™ 2 Experience events, introducing Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition to Nintendo players for the first time ever.

Our PR and Community teams packed their bags and booked tickets for New York, Paris, Tokyo, Los Angeles, London, Dallas, Toronto, Milan, Berlin, Madrid, Amsterdam, Hong Kong, and Seoul — phew — to work with Nintendo in showcasing one of the most immersive worlds in gaming.

Our relationship with Nintendo goes back some time, of course, as we released The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt on the original Nintendo Switch, and when we had the opportunity to check out the new hardware, we knew right away — this would be the perfect system for Cyberpunk 2077. Although the version for Nintendo Switch 2 was developed in-house here at CD PROJEKT RED, Nintendo supported us every step of the way with advice on how to overcome early development challenges. It was therefore very exciting to work side by side with Nintendo at its community events around the world.

“Nintendo was really excited about Cyberpunk 2077,” said our Senior Community Manager Alicja Kozera, who attended events in London, Toronto, and Amsterdam. “A lot of the Nintendo Ambassadors wanted to come and check it out and were super impressed. They would come to our station then go to others and tell people, ‘Hey, go and play Cyberpunk 2077.’ It was really cool.”

This all came after lots of hard work, both from the development team bringing Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition to Nintendo Switch 2 and those who organized the events on our side. But we were very eager to get involved. “CD PROJEKT RED has been in the video game development business for over 20 years, but we’ve never launched a game alongside a system — until now,” said Global PR Director Radek Grabowski.

“That moment is finally happening with Nintendo Switch 2, and as Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition was also among the first group of games showcased during the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, we are very proud to have worked with Nintendo on putting the entire thing together. It took a lot of hard work, but seeing our excitement matched by their team is a testament to our efforts."

Putting Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition in the hands of players was the most exciting part though. While the game and its spy-thriller expansion Phantom Liberty — included in the Ultimate Edition coming to Nintendo Switch 2 — are already available on other platforms, this is the first time Nintendo players can enter the dark future as cyber-enhanced mercenary V. We saw a fun mix of familiarity levels during the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, with some players having already logged hundreds of hours in Cyberpunk 2077 and others having not heard of it at all.

“One guy came over to us and said, while he knew about the game, this was actually his first time playing,” said Marcin Łukaszewski, our Community Manager who attended the opening New York event alongside Los Angeles and Dallas. “He watched a lot of the game on YouTube, but this is his first time playing because he only owns Nintendo systems.

“He said he was wishing, but not expecting, Cyberpunk 2077 to be at the April 2025 Nintendo Direct which debuted the new system, and was so happy that we actually announced it. And now he’s getting ready to play it when it’s released alongside Nintendo Switch 2.”

We were humbled to see the Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition booth so popular during the Nintendo Switch 2 Experience events, with near-constant lines of players eager to explore Night City, and Nintendo supported us here too. “They were really cool, checking up on us every hour or so, and they’d just stand and chat about Cyberpunk 2077 with us and thank us for being there,” Alicja said. “They were impressed with how many people gathered at our booth, and we’re thankful for the faith they showed in us by allotting so many systems to our game at each event.”

Working with Nintendo and getting to show off Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition to the community has only made us more excited for the game’s release, and we can’t wait for players to get their hands on it properly on June 5.
